I am a PhD student in Counseling Psychology at the University of Utah with a background in AI. My research lives at the intersection of humanity and technology — I study how computational methods can deepen our understanding of human psychological experience, and how psychological science can inform the design of more humane technology.
On the humanity side, I investigate meaning in life, existential concerns, and the therapeutic process in counseling. On the technology side, I develop and evaluate AI systems — including LLM-based client simulations, automated counseling assessment tools, and AI-assisted psychotherapy training platforms. Before joining Utah, I worked as a research assistant at Westlake University's Deep Learning Lab, a mental health counselor, and a product manager for AI mental health tools, giving me a firsthand understanding of both the clinical and engineering dimensions of this work.
